Testimonials This is an introductory guide to RV volt troubleshooting. First and foremost safety precautions should always be exercised when working with electricity, particularly VAC because it can not only cause serious injury but it can also kill so volt troubleshotting should not be attempted by the inexperienced. For those who are not experienced with electricity its as simple as getting help. Most likely you have a friend or acquaintance who would be glad to show you the “do’s” and “don’ts” of AC troubleshotting or you could take a course at a local community college or vocational school. Do not attempt this till you do one or the other. Anyone with the desire can learn these things so you are not doomed to taking your RV to a service center every time a problem rears its head.

The coach has 2 roof air units and the only way to run both at the same time is on the generator. I was wondering if the coach could be upgraded to a 50 amp shore power. Contacted the manufacturer and they said it couldn’t be done due to expensive modifications. Any ideas or input would be nice. It is now wired for 30 amp, how do I change it to 50 amp?

One convenient way to get the adapter is to order from WalMart. You can order online and pick up the adapter, usually the same day, at any WalMart store. You simply plug the camper into the “dogbone”, and then plug that into the wall, and you’re all set to go! There is another type of RV plug adapter on the market, which is commonly known as a “hockey puck”.
They are sold at the same places, and cost a few dollars less. If the store is out of the “dogbone” adapters and you need to plug in your trailer, then they will certainly do the job. In some cases, because of their smaller size, they might be slightly more convenient. This is what a “hockey puck” adapter looks like:

See how we dump & fill tanks, hook up at our campsite, and fill our own propane. That’s right propane in England is like pumping gas in most of North America – DIY. The black tank is removable, black and grey water get disposed of in separate places, and a thin little extension cord provides about the same power as a typical amp cord.
My plan is to have a RV electrical hook up that will be either 30 amp or 50 amp, that part seems pretty straight forward to me. Where I get a little fuzzy is what panel to do inside the Tiny House. Making things a little more complex is I want to use a product called eMonitor, which measures the power usage of each circuit. It comes with 14 sensors that surround the wire for each circuit inside the panel, so I can measure up to 14 circuits power usage.
So if I have a 30 amp or 50 amp hook up what panel should I be using inside the tiny house so I have at least 14 different circuits, but taking into account the 30 or 50 amp hookup. Things that I will be powering in the house complete list: Fujitsu 9rls2 Mini-split Air Conditioner – 20 amp circuit Computer Propane RV Water heater – 12 volt with adapter for Car Stereo and two small outdoor speakers 9 LED lights four circuits with 2 outlets each mostly not used mini fridge I plan to bring in an electrician to do this work, I just wanted to see what people thought so I know a general direction I should be heading when I sit down with them.
Any help would be great!

How to survive with only 30 amps in a 50 amp RV 30 amp hookup for rv – Then it stops and moves back left to right. It “alternates” – stopping and starting and reversing direction and moving in a wave. Of course it happens so fast, we never know it. DC stands for “direct current”.

I thought that everyone could benefit from this information and decided to include it this month. RVs come equipped with deep cycle batteries for the coach. Most RVs come with a single Group 24 deep cycle battery. How many amps the battery can deliver for how many hours before the battery is discharged. Deep cycle batteries are designed to be discharged over and over again and still take a charge.
If you enjoy dry camping without hook-ups you depend on your deep cycle battery s to take care of your volt needs. If you have room for a larger battery and enjoy dry camping you may want to consider a Group 27 or Group 31 deep cycle battery. You are absolutely right. Batteries produce power in Direct Current DC that run at low voltages. Power companies and AC generators produce sine wave Alternating Current AC , which is used to operate volt appliances and electronic equipment.
Some RVers use an inverter just to watch TV or for their personal computer. Other RVers use an inverter to operate microwaves, coffee pots or other larger appliances.
50 AMP and 30 AMP: What’s the difference?
September 23, If your coach is 30A there will be no advantage to installing a 50A box unless you think you might upgrade to a 50A coach in the future. No matter what you plug into, your coach will only have 30A. Your 30A coach should handle a W heater without a problem. Having 50A at the outlet, you will still have the same problems running the heater and the microwave that you would with a 30A outlet.
Using ‘ of wire is a concern. The longer the wire, the heavier it must be to deliver the full current at the other end.

Stranger in a Strange Land Need some advice as I made a foolish mistake. I paid a licensed electrician to install a v – 30 amp receptable on it’s own circuit for my RV when parked at the house. The electrician installed late last fall. I made the mistake of not actually having the electricain test the circuit right then and there. I paid him, he left, winter goes by and now I realize that the electrican wired the wrong plug. The plug he wired does not fit the typical RV pig tail wire.
